What is the Gospel?
The Good News of Jesus Christ
Every person is searching for joy, peace, purpose, and satisfaction. Yet no matter how much we achieve, possess, or experience, our hearts remain restless apart from God.
The Bible teaches that our greatest problem is not our circumstance but our sin. We were created to know, worship, and delight in God, yet we have turned away from Him. At the root of every sin is unbelief—a refusal to trust, love, and submit to the God who made us. We have exchanged His glory for lesser treasures and gone our own way.
Because God is perfectly holy and just, our sin is not a small matter. We stand guilty before Him and deserve His righteous judgment. No amount of good works, religious activity, or self-improvement can erase our guilt or reconcile us to God.
Yet the story of the Bible is the story of God’s astonishing mercy toward undeserving sinners.
In love, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God - fully God and fully man - who entered our world to save sinners. Jesus lived the perfect life we have failed to live and then willingly went to the cross, where He bore the punishment that sinners deserve. There He suffered in the place of His people, satisfying the justice of God and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him. He was buried and rose again on the third day, conquering sin and death forever.
Christ is not merely part of the solution—He is our greatest need. Apart from Him there is no forgiveness, no peace with God, and no lasting hope. But in Him there is mercy for the guilty, pardon for rebels, and life for the spiritually dead.
The Bible calls us to repent and believe the gospel. Repentance is turning from our sin and unbelief; faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone to save us. Those who come to Him are forgiven, reconciled to God, adopted into His family, and given the sure hope of eternal life.
The good news of the gospel is not simply that we can escape judgment. It is that we can know God. Through Christ, we are brought into fellowship with the One for whom we were created. True joy, lasting peace, and deep satisfaction are found not in the things of this world, but in Jesus Christ alone.

The Gospel in Four Truths
1. GOD IS HOLY
God created us to know Him, worship Him, and enjoy Him forever. He is perfectly holy, righteous, and good.
2. WE ARE SINNERS
We have all rebelled against God. Our greatest sin is unbelief—rejecting Him and seeking life apart from Him. Because God is just, we deserve His judgment.
3. CHRIST SAVES
Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live, died in the place of sinners, and rose again. He alone can forgive sin and reconcile us to God.
4. REPENT AND BELIEVE
The Bible calls every person to turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ. In Him alone are forgiveness, peace with God, and everlasting joy.
